Residents of Jeddah will have an opportunity to witness a fascinating celestial event as a chain of Starlink satellites is expected to pass across the evening sky on Sunday and Monday.
According to Jeddah Astronomy, the satellites will be visible to the naked eye, provided weather conditions are clear and observers have an unobstructed view of the western sky shortly after sunset.
The expected viewing times are:
- Sunday: Around 7:42 PM
- Monday: Around 7:38 PM
Astronomy enthusiasts say that Monday’s pass is expected to be brighter and higher in the sky, making it easier to spot than Sunday’s appearance.
Starlink satellites are part of SpaceX’s global satellite internet network. Shortly after launch, these satellites often appear in a line or “train” as they travel together before gradually spreading into their operational orbits.
People planning to watch are encouraged to head to open areas away from tall buildings and bright city lights for the best viewing experience. No telescope or binoculars are required, although optical equipment may provide a clearer view.
Skywatchers in Jeddah are advised to look up at the scheduled times and enjoy one of the most recognizable satellite displays currently visible from Earth.
